Alexander Zharov, head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor), announced that Facebook and Twitter have received additional time to comply with the requirements of Russian law regarding the personal data of Russian users.
Recall that Facebook and Twitter have not yet ensured the transfer of personal information of Russian users to servers in our country, as required by law. In this regard, social services have already , however, its amount is unlikely to frighten the Internet company - only 3000 rubles.
One way or another, now Facebook and Twitter have received an additional nine months to transfer the data of Russian users to servers located on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“According to the court decision, a certain period is expected, during which the company must comply with the requirements of the law of the Russian Federation on the localization of databases of personal data of citizens of the Russian Federation. Let's eat the elephant piecemeal: the trial has taken place, the companies have been fined. Currently, they have been given time to comply with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, ”RIA Novosti quotes the words of Mr. Zharov.
The head of Roskomnadzor also expressed the hope that Facebook and Twitter would not be blocked in our country. By the way, in connection with the failure to comply with the law on the localization of databases in Russia, the social network LinkedIn is blocked.
