Bloomberg established a fund to pay grants to open projects

Bloomberg news agency announced the creation of the FOSS Contributor Fund, aimed at providing financial support to open projects. Once a quarter, Bloomberg staff will select up to three open source projects to receive $10 in grants. Candidates for grants can be nominated by employees of different divisions and departments of the company, taking into account their specific work. The choice of winners will be carried out through voting.

It is noted that open source software is actively used in the Bloomberg infrastructure and through the creation of a fund, the company is trying to contribute to the development of popular open source projects. The first grants were awarded to the developers of the Apache Arrow data analysis platform, the Curl utility, and the Celery message queuing system.
