First Dev Diary for King's Bounty II was dedicated basic game mechanics, and the second tells about the lineage of the series, which goes back to the distant past of the gaming industry.

1C Entertainment divides the history of the King's Bounty series into three major phases. The first is the birth of the original game in 1990 thanks to Jon Van Caneghem. The project became a milestone in the gaming industry - in particular, the famous series "Heroes of Might and Magic" originates from it. The second stage is already the game of 2008, when 1C publishing house and Katauri Interactive studio revived the legendary series, having won considerable recognition in Russia and the world. It was sort of a remake of the 1990 game, but on a whole new level of quality.

Now it's time for the third phase: King's Bounty II promises to take the best of the creations of Katauri and John Van Kanegem and push the series even further in scale and quality. The entire franchise is united by a common spirit, turn-based combat, strategy and role-playing component with exploration of the world on behalf of the protagonist, an adventurer.

The developers talked about the combat mechanics and battlefields in the new game, as well as the evolution of these components since the nineties in different turn-based tactics. In King's Bounty II, for example, armies will clearly reflect the number of fighters, and arenas are not randomly generated, but accurately convey the location where the main character interacted with the world before the start of the battle.

In King's Bounty II, the creators promise a great coherent storyline with well-developed characters, as well as an advanced value system. Following certain ideals during the development of the hero at various points in the game will open access to different storylines. Therefore, the project will have the potential for replay: either for different characters, or for the same character, but with a different value system.

The project completely changed the style and approach in many ways compared to Katauri's flamboyant "King's Bounty: The Legend of the Knight", which was a reboot of the 1990 game from New World Computing.
