Breach in Tesla's system allows any electric car in Europe to charge through Supercharger stations for free

Network sources report that there is a flaw in the Tesla infrastructure software that technically allows the use of European Supercharger V3 stations to charge almost any third-party electric vehicles for free.

We are talking about Supercharger units with a CCS connector. It is with this connector that electric cars in European countries are equipped to replenish the energy reserve.

To start recharging Tesla cars, they use a special "greetings" software function that activates the process linked to the vehicle owner's account. But, as it turns out, free recharging can be done without a Tesla account.

A "hole" in Tesla's system is said to now allow the following EVs (and likely others that haven't been tested) to be charged for free:

  • Volkswagen e-Golf;
  • Volkswagen ID.3;
  • BMW i3;
  • Opel Ampera-e (Chevy Bolt EV);
  • Hyundai Kona Electric;
  • Hyundai IONIQ Electric;
  • Renault Zoe;
  • Porsche Taycan.

Apparently, this feature of the Supercharger V3 stations is precisely a software flaw that will be fixed soon. But there is also an opinion that by doing so, Tesla wants to attract the attention of automakers to the issue of sharing its network of charging stations.
