Willits gave interview Fortune magazine, in which he said that the opportunity to work on genres other than shooters played a significant role in making the decision. Of these projects, he worked only on Commander Keen, the first part of which was released in the 90s. In the rest of the years, his work was focused specifically on shooters.

β€œIt is very difficult to leave a company after 24 years. But I have seen Saber evolve and expand. It was a good time to change jobs.

The flexibility of small teams and the ability to get the job done quickly cannot be overemphasized. I can't say anything bad about Bethesda, I love them, but smaller companies are much more interesting. When you have a good idea, you start working on it. If that doesn't work, then you can quickly switch jobs," Willits said in an interview.

Tim Willits has led id Software since 1995. Together with him, the studio released all parts of Quake, RAGE and several parts of DOOM.

Saber Interactive was founded in 2001. The company is known for such projects as World War Z and TimeShift. The studio also participated in the creation of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Quake Champions.
