Cadillac has unveiled the new Escalade SUV, showing how it makes use of its 38 inches of curved OLED screens. We are talking about a high-resolution display (according to the manufacturer, the dot density is twice as high as that of a 4K TV), divided into three screens: 7,2β³ with a touch panel to the left of the driver, a 14,2β³ information cluster screen behind the steering wheel and 16,9 .XNUMXβ³ infotainment system. This solution, according to the company, due to its high brightness and deep black level, does not require visors from external light.
It is also the first Escalade to include the driver-assistant Super Cruise, which enables steering-free driving on 320 miles of highway in the United States and Canada. As the company announced last week, the newly updated technology will include automatic lane changing, as well as improvements to its steering and speed control.
The vehicle will also get a new independent rear suspension setup that's largely identical to that found in the new Tahoe and Yukon, and while Cadillac's SUV has an updated interior, it also offers those vehicles' optional 12,6-inch touchscreens for second-row passengers.
Among other things, we can also mention the possibility of installing the first sound system from AKG developed for a car, which includes 36 speakers and three amplifiers. Other tech enhancements include built-in microphones that help front and rear passengers hear each other, audio navigation cues that play to the left or right depending on which direction the driver needs to turn, and an independent volume control for each front seat.
Another added feature is soft-close doors: the electric motor closes the doors so that the user never hears the door slam again. The photos don't show augmented reality navigation: a live image of the street in front of the car is projected onto a cluster display with turn signals and other directional information overlaid on the scene.
The new Escalade is available in five trim levels: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Platinum Luxury, Sport and Platinum Sports. They all include OLED screens, NFC, wireless charging and five USB ports (two USB-A and three USB-C). The new SUV will go on sale later this year.
