Caliber 5.0

The cataloger, viewer and editor of electronic books Calible 5.0 has been released. The key changes in the new version are the new ability to highlight, highlight, and add annotations to text fragments, as well as a full transition to Python 3.

In the new release, you can highlight the text you are interested in and apply color highlighting to it, as well as formatting styles (underline, strikethrough ...) and your own notes. All this information will be stored in the Caliber library, and in the case of EPUB documents, inside them. All this works not only in the application, but also in the browser.

In addition, a dark theme has finally been added to all Caliber applications, and on Windows and Mac OS it will work automatically, and on Linux, you will need to add the CALIBRE_USE_DARK_PALETTE=1 environment variable to activate it.

Caliber 5.0 also enhanced document search capabilities by adding new modes, such as choosing to search for a whole word or searching for a regular expression.

Unobtrusive to the end user, but the most labor-intensive has been the full transition to Python 3. The developers of some third-party extensions have done this too, but not all. The status of their porting can be viewed in post on the official forum.
