Canalys has provided a forecast for the global smart devices market for the coming years: demand for such products will continue to increase.
The released data includes shipments of smartphones, desktop and laptop computers, tablets, various wearable gadgets, smart speakers and headphones of various types.
It is estimated that in 2019, approximately 2,4 billion devices were sold globally in the designated categories. In 2023, the industry is expected to exceed 3 billion units. Thus, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) in the period from 2019 to 2023 will be 6,5%.
It is noted that about half of the total supply of "smart" devices will be smartphones. In addition, a high demand for headphones of various types is predicted.
According to Canalys, it is headphones, including fully wireless submersible solutions, that will show the highest sales growth rates. Demand for them in 2020 will jump by 32,1% to 490 million units. In 2023, shipments will reach 726 million units.
In second place in terms of sales growth will be smart speakers - plus 21,7% in 2020. The volume of this segment will be about 150 million units this year and 194 million in 2023.
