EVE: Aether Wars is a major achievement by Hadean and CCP Games in researching the possibilities of creating massive multiplayer simulations for future projects. The fight was launched on the world's first cloud simulation engine Aether Engine using the capabilities of the Microsoft Azure platform. 3852 players battled each other live for an hour. At the same time, there were ships under computer control - the total number of vehicles was 14274. At the same time, 10412 ships participated in the battle, and 88988 were destroyed.

“We are delighted that we were able to successfully introduce Aether Engine technology with the EVE: Aether Wars demo,” said Craig Beddis, CEO of Hadean. This epic match would not have been possible without the support of CCP and the amazing EVE Online community. After the incredible GDC, we're even more excited about our collaboration, which helps us push the technological frontiers of what's possible in the MMO gaming space."

"We knew that Hadean's technology had great potential, and I'm thrilled that it was first revealed during the EVE: Aether Wars tech demo," added Hilmar V. Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “I am convinced that our collaboration will continue to open new horizons in virtual worlds, and we will continue to explore new creative possibilities that will allow “Eva” to outlive us all!”

However, this time it was not possible to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of players involved in a PvP battle. It is also owned by EVE Online - on January 23, 2018, there were 6142 people registered in one battle.
