When CFO Piotr Nielubowicz discussed costs, Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer was labeled as a "small project" that has only recently been taken seriously. He also confirmed that there are other projects in early development.
βWhat you see on the balance sheet comes mostly from Cyberpunk β single and multiplayer modes β with the latter being a small project that is just getting started,β Nilubowicz said. βWe also have other projects in early development, but as I said, the vast majority of spending is related to the Cyberpunk universe.β
Later in a Q&A, CEO Adam KiciΕski responded to a question about monetization in Cyberpunk 2077's multiplayer, stating that it would be "wisely" implemented.
βIn regards to the monetization of Cyberpunk multiplayer, we feel it is definitely too early to share any details or make recommendations; the project is at a relatively early stage,β he said. β We continue to experiment β this is our first multiplayer game. We are exploring various options and possibilities, and now is definitely not the time to point direction. Of course, you can expect that we won't change our general 'gamer deals' policy, so I expect reasonable monetization and value for money."
The single player campaign of Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
