CES 2020: MSI Unveils Gaming Monitors with Unusual Features

MSI will present a number of rather interesting gaming monitors at CES 2020, which starts tomorrow in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA). The Optix MAG342CQR model has a rather strong matrix bend, the Optix MEG381CQR monitor is equipped with an additional HMI (Human Machine Interface) panel, and the Optix PS321QR model is a universal solution for both gamers and creators of various kinds of content.

The Optix MAG342CQR monitor is built on a 34-inch panel with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a curvature radius of 1000mm (1000R). According to the manufacturer, this is the first monitor in the world with such a curvature, although Samsung recently announced several monitors. Odyssey with the same radius.

New MSI has a resolution of UWQHD (3440 × 1440 pixels). Unfortunately, the type of the panel is not specified, but, apparently, a VA matrix was used here. The novelty is the successor to the Optix MAG341CQ monitor, which has an 1800R curve and a frequency of 100 Hz, so the new Optix MAG342CQR should have the same frequency or higher.

MSI calls the Optix MEG381CQR the world's first "smart" HMI monitor. A small OLED display located in the lower left corner of the monitor can display system status information. What's more, when using the Optix MEG381CQR monitor with the new MSI Aegis Ti5 computer, the built-in HMI allows you to switch between system operating profiles, instantly optimizing its performance for specific tasks.

The Optix MAG342CQR monitor itself is built on a 38-inch curved IPS-type panel with a curvature radius of 2300 mm (2300R) and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The resolution of the monitor is 3440 × 1440 pixels, and the refresh rate is 144 Hz. The response time is also typical for gaming monitors - 1 ms.

Finally, MSI has prepared the 32-inch Optix PS321QR monitor for gamers and creatives. The first will like the frequency of 165 Hz and the response time of just 1 ms. For graphics, however, it will be useful that the monitor covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color space and 99% of the Adobe RGB space. Unfortunately, MSI has not yet disclosed details about other characteristics of this new product.
