Cellular devices with E Ink screens have been around for a long time. Recall that panels on electronic paper consume energy only at the moment of redrawing the image. The picture is perfectly readable in bright sunlight.

So far, smartphones have been equipped with monochrome E Ink displays. Hisense also demonstrated a prototype of the world's first cellular device with a screen on colored electronic paper.

The characteristics of the device are, alas, kept secret. Hisense only notes that the used display has a higher refresh rate compared to screens on electronic paper of the previous generation.

Network sources add that the new smartphone is capable of reproducing 4096 color shades. The image remains on the screen even after a complete power off.

It is assumed that such devices will enter the commercial market in the middle of this year.
