Chrome 76 will block websites that track incognito mode

In a future version of Google Chrome at number 76 will appear the function of blocking sites that use tracking mode "Incognito". Previously, many resources used this method to determine in what mode the user is viewing a particular site. This worked in different browsers including Opera and Safari.

Chrome 76 will block websites that track incognito mode

If the site tracked the enabled Incognito mode, it could block access to certain content. Most often, the system offered to log in under your account. The fact is that private browsing mode is a popular option for reading articles on newspaper websites. Most often this is used on sites with restrictions on reading materials. And although there are a bunch of other ways, this one is perhaps the easiest and therefore most in demand.

That is, starting with Chrome 76, sites cannot determine whether the browser is in normal mode or incognito mode. Of course, this does not guarantee that other tracking methods will not appear in the future. However, the first time will be easier.

Of course, sites can still prompt users to sign in regardless of the mode they are in. But at least they won't highlight users who use incognito mode.

The stable version of Chrome 76 is expected on July 30th. In addition to the private mode, other innovations are expected in this assembly. In particular, there turn off flash. And although this technology can be returned through the settings, but this is only temporary. Full removal of support for Flash is expected in 2020, when Adobe will stop supporting this technology.
