Chrome Canary on Android Gets Google Assistant Support

A few days ago it became known that Google is working on bringing Google Assistant to the Chrome browser on Android. This will allow the web browser to work directly with the voice assistant. The latter will be transferred to the browser's Omnibox. This feature is currently available in Chrome Canary, but there is no word on a release date for the feature.

To activate the Assistant in the browser, you need to go to chrome://flags, find the Omnibox Assistant Voice flag there, activate it and restart the browser.

As a result, the Google Assistant in Omnibox will replace Android's built-in voice search. Thus, it will be responsible for all voice requests in the browser. And the old microphone icon in the Chrome address bar will be replaced with the Google Assistant logo in the coming days.

Google has long been working on replacing the old voice search with its assistant. Last year, the search giant replaced the old voice search with Google Assistant in a branded app. The company also introduced its voice assistant in the Pixel launcher last year.

In addition, you can expect it to appear in the desktop version of the browser. In other words, the “corporation of goodness” is trying to create a full-scale ecosystem of its products using voice technology.
