Chrome/Chromium 83

The release of the Google Chrome 83 browser and the corresponding free version of Chromium, which acts as the basis, took place. The previous release, the 82nd, was skipped due to the transfer of developers to a remote work mode.

From innovations:

  • DNS over HTTPS (DoH) mode now enabled by defaultif the user's DNS provider supports it.
  • Additional security checks:
    • Now you can check if the username and password have been compromised and get recommendations for fixing it.
    • Safe Browsing technology is available. If disabled, a warning will be displayed when visiting suspicious sites.
    • Malicious add-on notifications will also be displayed.
  • Appearance changes:
    • The new kind add-ons panel, in which additional settings are now available.
    • Redesigned settings tab. The options are now grouped into four basic sections. Also, the "People" tab has been renamed to "Me and Google"
    • Simplified cookie management. Now the user can quickly enable third-party cookie blocking for all sites or a specific site. Also included is the blocking of all "cookies" from third-party sites in the "Incognito" mode.
  • Added new developer tools: page perception emulator for visually impaired people, COEP (Cross-Origin Embedder Policy) debugger. The UI for tracking the duration of running JavaScript code has also been redesigned.

Some planned changes due to the global situation have been delayed: removal of support for the FTP protocol, TLS 1.0/1.1, etc.
