Control Coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X - Details Coming 'Later'

Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment in my microblog announced that her sci-fi action Control will go beyond the current generation of game consoles.

In particular, the developers have confirmed versions of the project for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. In what form and when exactly Control will reach the new Sony and Microsoft consoles, the authors do not specify, but promise to share details “later.”

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will support backwards compatibility technology, so this is probably not so much about the ability to play Control on new platforms, but about improving the project for them.

For example, the PC version of Control can offer ray tracing (the best on the market, according to Digital Foundry) and smoothing technology based on deep learning DLSS. 

The additional power of the new consoles compared to the PS4 and Xbox One will certainly not be superfluous: on current-generation devices (especially the base models), Control suffered from technical problems.

Control was released in August 2019 on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The initial sales of the action game were not very encouraging, but long term the project shows itself worthy.

In March of this year, Control received the story expansion The Foundation, and in late summer The AWE expansion, which is directly related to another Remedy Entertainment series, Alan Wake, is about to hit the shelves.
