Cooler Master SK621: $120 compact wireless mechanical keyboard

Earlier this year at CES 2019, the company Cooler Master introduced three new wireless mechanical keyboards. Less than six months later, the manufacturer decided to release one of them, namely SK621. The novelty belongs to the so-called "sixty percent keyboards", that is, it is extremely compact in size and lacks not only a numeric keypad, but also a row with function keys (F1-F12).

The Cooler Master SK621 uses Cherry MX RGB Low Profile switches, which are similar to traditional Cherry MX Red switches, but with 0,8mm less travel (3,2 vs. 4,0mm) and the same actuation force (45g). In addition, these switches do not emit a characteristic click when pressed. There is also a customizable RGB backlight, which allows you to change the appearance of the keyboard, or, if desired, you can turn it off. There is also the possibility of programming keys.

The new Cooler Master is made in a plastic case with an aluminum plate, which gives it an attractive appearance and additional rigidity, but does not make it too heavy. The novelty weighs only 424 g, most of which is just the case. Dimensions of Cooler Master SK621 are 293 Γ— 103 Γ— 29,2 mm. Due to its small size and weight, the novelty is an excellent option for those who often need to take the keyboard with them.

The Bluetooth 4.0 interface is used to connect to the system. The polling rate is 1000 Hz and the response time is 1 ms. By the way, SK621 is the first mechanical Bluetooth keyboard in the Cooler Master range. It is also possible to connect via the included 1,8 meter USB Type-C to Type-A cable, which also charges the built-in keyboard battery.
