Automaker Daimler and automotive parts supplier Bosch will launch a self-driving car parking service in Stuttgart, Germany, after receiving approval from local authorities to test the technology.
Bosch said the valet parking service will be provided at the Mercedes-Benz Museum's garage using its infrastructure and Daimler-developed autonomous driving technologies.
According to Bosch, it will be the first fully automated parking system to be rated "Level 4" and approved for everyday use.
The technology, accessed via a smartphone app, allows the vehicle to be sent offline to a designated parking spot as soon as the driver leaves the vehicle. Similarly, according to the company, the car can be returned to the driver's drop-off point.
