darktable 3.4

darktable 3.4

New version released darktable - a popular free program for culling, streaming processing and printing photos.

Main changes:

  • improved performance of many editing operations;
  • added a new module Color Calibration, which implements various tools for managing chromatic adaptation;
  • the Filmic RGB module introduced three ways to visualize dynamic range projection;
  • the Tone Equalizer module has a new directional eigf filter, which smoothes shadows and highlights more evenly and is less sensitive to horizontal / vertical edges;
  • blending modes can now use the HDR-tailored JzCzhz space, in which luminosity, chroma and tone are separated like in LCH, but at the same time linear tones are preserved;
  • processing modules can now be grouped in their own way, several grouping presets are available;
  • overexposure and out-of-gamut indicators combined into one;
  • several modules have been declared obsolete and are no longer available by default: channel mixer replaced by color calibration, invert replaced by negadoctor, instead of fill light and zone system there is tone equalizer, instead of global tonemap and other tone projectors there is filmic rgb and local contrast.

In general, the current development team is aggressively rewriting the program towards an explicit separation of tools related to scene-referred workflow and display-referred workflow with the priority of the former.
