DARPA is developing an extremely secure messenger

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) leads development of our own secure communication platform. The project is called RACE and involves the creation of a distributed anonymous system for communication.

DARPA is developing an extremely secure messenger

RACE is based on the requirements for network resilience and the privacy of all its participants. Thus, DARPA puts security first. And although the technical aspects of the system are not yet known, it would be logical to assume that the new system will use end-to-end encryption and the ability to transfer data through any communication channels. And the declared distributed nature may hint at the absence of a central server or cluster.

The only known fact is that the system will be resistant to cyber attacks, and the protocol will make it possible to cut off compromised nodes from the general network. It is not yet clear how they plan to implement this, it is possible that some military developments will be used for this.

At the moment, it remains unknown when the novelty will appear in finished form, at least in the form of a system for the military. However, this is expected to happen soon. In the future, the novelty may also appear as a consumer solution.

Recall that earlier in DARPA stated on the development of the Guaranteeing AI Robustness against Deception (GARD) program. As the name implies, it should protect AI from deception, false data, incorrect decisions, and so on. Considering that artificial intelligence is becoming more and more in demand in all areas, this is a quite expected initiative.

According to the agency, the cost of an AI error can be extremely high, so creating systems to protect AI from deception is vital.
