Dell updates XPS 15 and XPS 17 ultrabooks with thinner display bezels and Comet Lake-H processors

Dell introduced the updated XPS 15 ultrabook, which, like was expected, borrows the design of the previously updated 13-inch XPS 13. In addition, the company has returned to service the 17-inch XPS 17 with a similar design. Both new products offer Infinity Edge touch displays with thin bezels, 16:10 aspect ratio and resolutions up to 3840 Γ— 2400 pixels.

In the new XPS 15 and 17, as with the XPS 13, Dell has decided to ditch the USB Type-A connector. Thanks to this, it was possible to reduce the thickness of the devices. But don't worry, portable systems come with a USB Type-C to Type-A adapter. The thickness of the 15-inch XPS 15 is 0,7 inches (about 1,78 cm). The older 17-inch model is 0,8 inches (2,03 cm) thick.

Both portable work machines are built on the latest 10th Gen Intel Core H-series processors and are ready to offer processors up to the new octa-core Core i9-10885H. The XPS 15 model can be equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics. For the older model, a choice of GeForce 1650 Ti and GeForce RTX 2060 is offered.

Both older and younger models can be equipped with up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM with a frequency of 2993 MHz. In addition, it is proposed to install NVMe SSDs up to 2 TB.

The Dell XPS 15 is equipped with two Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) connectors, one USB Type-C 3.1, an SD card slot, and a 3,5mm audio jack. In turn, the Dell XPS 17 is equipped with four USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support, an SD card slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack. New items support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless standards.

Both systems are assembled in aluminum cases. Screen protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Ultrabooks are equipped with high-quality sound systems from four speakers. Some configurations of these new Dell products are labeled "XPS Creator". This indicates that the model is best suited for creative work. In addition, the 17-inch model with GeForce RTX 2060 graphics uses NVIDIA RTX Studio drivers.

Sales of the XPS 15 model began today. The price for it starts from 1300 dollars. The older model XPS 17 will have to wait until the summer. The manufacturer does not indicate a more specific release date for it, but the cost will start at $ 1500.
