Dell introduces new 27-inch gaming monitors with 144 and 165 Hz frequencies

Dell today announced two new 27-inch monitors. The Dell S2721HGF and Dell S2721DGF models are aimed primarily at the gaming audience, and are sold overseas for $280 for the 1080p/144Hz version and $570 for the 1440p/165Hz version, respectively.

Dell has tried to cover as much of the gaming market as possible, hoping to meet the needs of both serious gamers and those looking for a high-quality, high-contrast gaming display. Dell's new creations offer some versatility: the low-cost FullHD VA version of the S2721HGF is curved and has a 4ms (GTG) response time. The more expensive Dell S2721DGF monitor uses an IPS panel with a 1ms response time.

Both monitors have narrow bezels on all sides except for the bottom edge, which is wide enough to fit the Dell logo on it. The back of the displays has a rather unusual ventilation system that looks like louvered louvers. This new design helps dissipate heat, according to Dell. The more expensive monitor, the S2721DGF, still playfully illuminates the vents with RGB lighting.

Dell doesn't choose sides when it comes to the green team or the red team (on graphics cards). The new monitors are compatible with G-Sync. But the cheaper S2721HGF is FreeSync Premium compatible, while the more expensive S2721DGF boasts FreeSync Premium Pro.

Dell S2721DGF is equipped with the following ports: 2 × HDMI 2.0; DisplayPort 1.4; USB 3.0 downstream, USB 3.0 upstream; 3,5mm headphone outputs and audio jack. Dell S2721HGF not so rich: 2 × HDMI 1.4; DisplayPort 1.2; 3,5mm headphone output.

The manufacturer says the 165Hz S2721DGF will be available on July 28th and the 144Hz S2721HGF on August 21st.
