Digital Foundry: Of all the consoles, the PS3 Pro does the best with the Resident Evil 4 remake

Graphic experts from Digital Foundry have released technical analysis console editions of the Resident Evil 3 remake and came to the conclusion that the retail build is not much different from the demo version in terms of performance.

Digital Foundry: Of all the consoles, the PS3 Pro does the best with the Resident Evil 4 remake

As with the trial version, the updated Resident Evil 3 behaves most consistently on PS4 Pro: there, at 1620p resolution, the FPS counter rarely drops below 60 fps.

The version of the project for Xbox One X is ahead of its direct competitor in terms of resolution (2160p), but seriously loses in performance, showing an average of 40 to 50 frames/s.

Basic models of PS4 and Xbox One run in 1080p resolution (on the Microsoft console the graphics in the videos are slightly worse) with “floating” performance: the Japanese console produces an average of 30 to 50 frames/s, the American one - from 30 to 40 frames/s.

Capcom is aware of the technical problems with the Resident Evil 3 remake on Xbox One X and promises to address this issue, but after release. Digital Foundry hopes to introduce a frame rate limiting option.

As of the time of the premiere, Digital Foundry recommends the PS4 Pro version when it comes to consoles. In the case of a PC, the level of performance will depend on each specific device.

The updated Resident Evil 3 will go on sale on April 3 for PC (Steam), PS4 and Xbox One. To achieve 60fps at 1080p on PC, according to system requirements, you will need 8 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB) video card.
