Digital Foundry: PS4 Pro outperformed base PS4 in The Last of Us Part II

Experts from Digital Foundry on the Eurogamer website published one more technical preview of the ambitious action game The Last Of Us Part II by Naughty Dog.

Digital Foundry: PS4 Pro outperformed base PS4 in The Last of Us Part II

Employees of the technical department of Eurogamer complained about the terms of the embargo, limiting the possibility of displaying the game, and promised to release a voluminous video demonstrating all the graphical advantages of the project closer to release.

In the meantime, Digital Foundry was able to compare versions of The Last of Us Part II for the base PS4 model and the more powerful PS4 Pro. Oddly enough, it was the standard console that turned out to be more productive.

The difference between the two models is subtle, but noticeable: PS4 Pro regularly experiences 2-3 fps drops for some unknown reason when the character is in the water.

In terms of graphics, the versions are almost identical. The difference lies only in the clarity of the image, due to the resolution (not dynamic, it is worth noting) - 1080p (PS4) and 1440p (PS4 Pro).

In The Last of Us Part II itself, there are no downloads (with the exception of the start one) - they occur in the background. For this reason, Digital Foundry advises not to skip intro videos, because long (about a minute) downloads are hidden behind them.

The Last of Us Part II will be released on June 19 this year exclusively on PlayStation 4. At the same time, the game, according to the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan, will be able to work "without problems" on the PlayStation 5.
