Overwatch director: Overwatch 2 is not an expansion, but a full-fledged sequel

Announcement Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2019 was received negatively by some fans. In their opinion, the project looks like a big expansion, not a full-fledged sequel. On this subject in a recent interview spoke head of the game Jeff Kaplan (Jeff Kaplan).

Как сообщаСт PCGamesN, citing the original source, the head said: β€œThe sequel is a completely new project, with new gameplay, improvements and evolution of the game world. In my understanding, Overwatch 2 is a full-fledged sequel. We have more than doubled the size of the team for the sake of creating the second part." Kaplan then began listing what's new in Overwatch 2. The director mentioned the Onslaught mode and maps for it, the increased number of locations for other PvP competitions, story content, and the expansion of the character roster. In conclusion, the executive summed up: "Overwatch 2 is much larger than the original, so we consider it a sequel."

We remind you that after the release of the sequel, the clients of the two games unite. The developers do not want to divide the community, so the owners of the first Overwatch will also have access to new maps and characters. However, to complete the story and co-op missions, users will have to buy a sequel.

Overwatch 2 will appear on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but the developers have not yet announced the exact date.
