Antergos distribution ceases to exist

On May 21, on the Antergos distribution blog, the team of creators announced the end of work on the project. According to the developers, over the past few months they have hardly had time to support Antergos, and leaving it in such a semi-abandoned state would be disrespectful to the user community. They did not delay the decision, since the project code is in working order, and anyone who wishes can use everything that he finds useful right now.

In connection with this sad event, Antergos users do not have to worry about the performance of their systems. New packages from Arch Linux will continue to arrive in the traditional way, and an update will soon appear in Antergos' own repositories, disabling them and removing all distribution-specific software. Some of the packages are already in the AUR, so their users will be able to update there. As a result, the Antergos installation will simply turn into a regular Arch Linux.

Forum ΠΈ wiki will continue to work for about three more months, after which they will also be turned off.

The Antergos developers would like to thank everyone who has used the project over the past five years and believe that during this time they have achieved their original goal of making Arch Linux available to a wider audience and building a friendly community around it.

According to the statistics of the project, since 2014, the images of the distribution have been downloaded almost a million times. In the list on the DistroWatch website, Antergos currently ranks 18th.
