The developers of the Lubuntu distribution have announced the publication of the Lubuntu Backports PPA, which offers packages for installation in Lubuntu/Ubuntu 22.04 of the current release of the LXQt 1.1 user environment. Initial builds of Lubuntu 22.04 ship the deprecated LXQt 0.17 branch published in April 2021.
The Lubuntu Backports repository is currently in beta testing and is similar to the fresh KDE desktop repository maintained by the Kubuntu and KDE Neon developers. The official release of backports is scheduled for July 19, if no significant problems are identified.
