Donald Trump stood up for the head of Tesla in a conflict with the authorities of Alameda County

Many social institutions were not ready to be tested by the pandemic. The conflict between the Alameda County authorities and the leadership of Tesla is a typical illustration. The electric car manufacturer hastened to launch production against the will of the local administration, but US President Donald Trump stood up for Elon Musk.

American president from the pages Twitter appealed to the California authorities with the requirement to immediately allow Tesla to resume the assembly of electric vehicles at the plant in Fremont. β€œThis needs to be done quickly and safely,” Trump added. The original plan was for Alameda County to make a decision to reopen the Tesla facility by next Monday, but Elon Musk arbitrarily started production a week early, claiming all necessary precautions were being taken. In an interview CNBC employees of the enterprise, on condition of anonymity, said that the staff was distributed over several shifts, thermometric control was carried out at the entrance to the building and medical masks were distributed. Reservoirs with disinfectants are distributed across production and amenity premises.

Breaks are staggered so that employees overlap as little as possible in common areas. Protective glasses were relied upon by all workers on the assembly line before, only surgical masks have now been added from additional protective equipment. According to some employees, it is not always possible to achieve social distancing at work posts near the assembly line due to technological reasons. Elon Musk himself was indeed seen in the workshops of the enterprise for several hours on Monday, as he expressed his readiness to stand at the conveyor along with the workers, urging the district authorities to arrest only him if necessary.

It is noteworthy that the governor of California in this conflict expresses sympathy for Elon Musk, since their recent conversation inspired the head of state to more decisively remove the restrictions dictated by self-isolation. Alameda County authorities have some degree of autonomy in this matter. They have already received a new plan to return the enterprise to work for approval from Tesla, but began to study it only on Tuesday. On Monday, they managed to issue an order forcing Tesla to return the company to the mode of implementation of the minimum basic operations.

Musk recently threatened to move Tesla headquarters and production from California to other states, and has already had a conversation with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. What incentives this state is ready to attract the California billionaire is not specified, but other automakers are successfully operating in Texas, and SpaceX, also founded by Elon Musk, has a launch pad for aircraft here. The enterprises of other automakers in Texas did not stop their work even during the restrictive measures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
