AV Linux 2020.4.10, a distribution for creating audio and video content, is available

Submitted by distribution kit AVLinux 2020.4.10, containing a selection of applications for creating/processing multimedia content. The distribution is based on the Debian 10 "Buster" package base and repositories KX Studio with additional self-assembly packages (Polyphone, Shuriken, Simple Screen Recorder, etc.). The user environment is based on Xfce. The distribution kit can function in Live mode, size iso image 3.1 GB

The Linux kernel comes with a set of RT patches to increase system responsiveness during audio processing work. The package includes Ardour, ArdourVST, Harrison, Mixbus sound editors, Blender 3D design system, Cinelerra, Openshot, LiVES video editors and tools for converting multimedia file formats. The JACK Audio Connection Kit is offered for switching audio devices (using JACK1/Qjackctl, not JACK2/Cadence). The distribution kit is supplied with a detailed illustrated leadership (PDF, 126 pages)

In the new release:

  • Switched to the Debian 10 "Buster" package base (previously used Debian 9) and the Linux 5.4.28-RT kernel with patches to reduce delays. The transition to the new KXStudio repositories has been made.
  • For installation, a fork of the installer is proposed System Back with NVMe support.
  • Added PulseAudio module for Bluetooth support.
  • Disabled automatic mounting of external drives when booting in Live mode.
  • Reduced iso image size by 500 MB, mainly by removing Kdenlive and all KDE libraries (Kdenlive can be installed from the repository or via Flatpak).

  • Demo plugins for Applied Computer Music Technologies, Auburn Sounds, Cut Through Recordings and OvertoneDSP have been added.
  • Added Airwindows VST plugins.
  • Includes SFizz and LiquidSFZ, complementing SFZero and linuxsampler.
  • Added demo release Mixbus 32C 6.0.652.
  • Added Tunefish4 Synthesizer and Sitala Drum sampler.
  • Added FAudio packages and repository to support Wine Staging 5+.
