AMD Radeon Driver 19.4.1 fixes a number of stability issues

AMD has released its first April Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.4.1 driver, which aims to resolve a number of identified issues with the stability of the company's graphics accelerators and system freezes.

Specifically, Radeon 19.4.1 should resolve intermittent crashes or freezes in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth with MSAA FSAA enabled after update 8.1.5 is installed. Recall that in March, Microsoft and Blizzard announced that with the release of this patch, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, even under Windows 7, will be able to take advantage of DirectX 12. Almost simultaneously, the Radeon Software 19.3.2 driver was released with support for DX12 under Windows 7.

In addition, the new driver resolves an issue with Radeon VII graphics cards and the Radeon RX Vega series that caused instability or temporary system hangs when three or more displays were connected to the computer and running at the same time. Other issues fixed in Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.4.1 include:

  • The mouse cursor disappears or moves off the top of the display on AMD Ryzen mobile processors with integrated Radeon Vega graphics.
  • Radeon WattMan automatic overclocking did not raise GPU clocks above default on Radeon RX Vega series products.
  • Vari-Bright changes were not applied on some AMD Ryzen mobile processors with Radeon Vega graphics.
  • in World of Tanks, intermittent artifacts occurred at the minimum graphics settings on systems with Radeon RX Vega.

In addition, AMD engineers are working on fixing some known issues:

  • screen flickering on systems with AMD Radeon VII when working with multiple displays;
  • The Netflix app from the Windows Store flickers during video playback on some HDR-enabled displays.
  • Performance metrics and Radeon WattMan indicators overlay show inaccurate fluctuations on AMD Radeon VII.
  • Performance metrics in overlay mode cause intermittent flickering when playing protected content.
