AMD Radeon Driver 19.7.3: New Wolfenstein Optimizations and Extended Vulkan Support

AMD introduced the third July driver Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.7.3, the main feature of which is support for the fresh cooperative shooter Wolfenstein: Youngblood. According to the manufacturer, compared to 19.7.2, the new driver provides a performance increase of up to 13% (tested on a system with a Radeon RX 5700 8 GB, Intel Core i7-9700K 3,6 GHz and 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz).

AMD also announced support for Radeon GPU Profiler and Microsoft PIX on Radeon RX 5700 family accelerators and additional Vulkan extensions: VK_EXT_display_surface_counter, VK_AMD_pipeline_compiler_control, VK_AMD_shader_core_properties2, VK_EXT_subgroup_size_control, VK_KHR_imageless_framebuffer, VK_KHR_variable_pointers.

In this release, engineers fixed a number of known issues:

  • League of Legends did not run on Radeon RX 5700 under Windows 7;
  • Radeon RX 5700 crashes or DirectX 9 application freezes after updating Radeon Software.
  • Windows Mixed Reality did not launch when running Radeon Image Sharpening on Radeon RX 5700.
  • when using Radeon ReLive VR, the audio is out of sync with the video;
  • incorrect display of the power value in Radeon WattMan when working on Radeon VII;
  • AMD Log Utility Driver did not install under Windows 7;
  • There was a slight drop in performance in some games when Radeon Anti-Lag was enabled.
  • Minor stutters in Fortnite during the first few minutes of gameplay on the Radeon RX 5700.
  • Radeon Overlay caused flickering in Vulkan API games when Radeon Image Sharpening was enabled.
  • artifacts when running Adobe Premiere Pro 2019 benchmarks.

Work continues on fixing existing issues:

  • green artifacts after installing Radeon Software under Windows 10 May 2019 Update;
  • stuttering when running Radeon FreeSync on 240Hz screens with Radeon RX 5700 graphics;
  • Radeon Performance Metrics reports incorrect VRAM usage data.
  • increased clock speeds AMD Radeon VII in standby mode or on the desktop;
  • Radeon Overlay intermittently not showing up when switching applications
  • Radeon ReLive recording audio is corrupted or distorted when desktop recording is enabled.
  • black screen during uninstallation of Radeon RX 5700 GPU driver under Windows 7, exit - uninstall in safe mode;
  • Radeon ReLive creates empty clips on Radeon RX 5700 GPU under Windows 7;
  • Enhanced Sync activation causes game, application, or system crashes on Radeon RX 5700.

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.7.3 can be downloaded on 64-bit versions of Windows 7 or Windows 10 as with AMD official site, or from the Radeon Settings menu. It is dated July 25 and is intended for video cards and integrated graphics of the Radeon HD 7000 family and above.
