The Taiwanese company ASUS has updated its series of gaming laptops
However, among the new products presented, one deserves special attention - a completely new model of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 (GX550) laptop. According to ASUS, this is the world's first dual-screen gaming laptop. It combines the approaches found in the thin, high-performance gaming computers Zephyrus and the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo introduced last year.
Obviously, the company recognized the experience of creating a unique dual-screen laptop as not only successful, but decided to continue this practice. A certain disadvantage of the previous solution was the viewing angle from which you had to look at the additional screen. Ultimately, despite the matte finish, it was somewhat uncomfortable and certainly took some getting used to. In the Zephyrus Duo 15, the company has worked on this shortcoming, and now when you open the lid, the secondary screen tilts for more comfortable operation and improved cooling.
The Active Aerodynamic System Plus heat management system with self-cleaning fans and ducts under the secondary baffle increases airflow by more than a third, reducing temperature and noise emissions. The use of Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal thermomix based on a eutectic alloy further reduces the temperature by up to 8Β° C.
The main screen is a 15,6β³ matrix with either a Full HD matrix with a high refresh rate of 300 Hz at 3 ms latency, or a high resolution 4K/60 Hz/25 ms with full coverage of the Adobe RGB color space - both are factory calibrated and Pantone certified Validated. An additional 14,1β³ touch screen AH-VA IPS UHD (3840 Γ 1100) 60 Hz/25 ms works in expansion mode as standard, but also has a number of additional ROG ScreenPad plus functions designed to improve the convenience of gaming, work and communication. Both screens have an anti-glare coating. To compensate for the increased energy consumption of the two screens, a battery with a capacity expanded to 90 Wh is installed.
New 16-thread processor can be installed
The disk subsystem is represented by two M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB, operating in RAID 0 acceleration mode. The laptop received a high-quality ESS Saber digital-to-analog converter with support for the Hi-Res Audio format with a high sampling rate and bit depth. The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports DisplayPort 1.4, Thunderbolt 3, and Power Delivery 3.0 connected device charging, allowing you to use an external monitor without additional cables, for example.
The keyboard has per-key customizable backlighting RGB. The magnesium-aluminum alloy body measures 36 x 26,8 x 2,1 cm and weighs 2,4 kg.
At the presentation of new products in Russia, ASUS technical marketing manager for PCs and games for the Eastern EMEA region, Ivan Bessky, provided some details related to the Republic of Gamers (ROG) initiative, designed to provide users with innovative solutions for the best gaming environment.
Thanks to the high performance and overall quality of ROG products, the company is also positioning them as ideal tools for the creative community. Russia is one of the main markets for ASUS ROG.
Statistics on the age and gender of players report that today women already make up 46% of the gaming community on PC, consoles and mobile devices - previously computer games were considered the prerogative of men. By the way, among the latter, 91% play games, and 68% say that games are part of their identity.
