Ford presented its vision of what automated delivery of goods could be in the era of self-driving transport.
We are talking about using a special bipedal robot Digit. As planned by the automaker, he will be able to deliver goods from a self-driving van directly to the door of the customer's house.
It is noted that the robot can walk like a person. He is able to climb and descend stairs, as well as move on uneven surfaces, say, on a lawn.
Digit can lift loads up to 18 kilograms. In the event of an accidental push, the robot will maintain its balance and stand on its feet. In addition, Digit can identify and bypass obstacles.
The robot will get to the customer's house in the back of a self-driving van. On site, a special manipulator will unload the robot from the car, after which it will be able to complete the purchase delivery process.
