After several years of hard development, Double Fine Productions is almost ready to release the platformer Psychonauts 2. Already in June, at the E3 2019 exhibition (as part of the E3 Coliseum event), the authors plan to show a large demo version of the project.
Psychonauts 2 will be shown by studio head Tim Schafer and actor Jack Black, who has previously collaborated with Double Fine (for example, in Brutal Legend). A full release should take place at the end of this year. Development is underway for PC (Windows, macOS and Linux), Xbox One and PS4.
Recall that now Psychonauts 2 is at the alpha stage, which it switched to in December last year. Then it became known that all the content planned by the developers had already been added to the game. That is, now, in terms of materials, the platformer is already ready, and Double Fine is only engaged in βpolishingβ and correcting errors. We will be told a story about a secret spy conspiracy that will be investigated by the main character Raz.
When the hero gets to the headquarters of the organization of psychonauts, he notices many oddities. Funding for traditional psychic research and peacemaking has been cut, and questionable practices, including necromancy, have stepped forward instead. Raz will soon discover a sinister conspiracy, double agents, villains from the past and much more. The history of the hero's family and the curse imposed on it will play one of the main roles in the plot.
