Jonathan Carter re-elected as Debian Project Leader for the fourth time

The results of the annual Debian project leader election have been announced. The victory was won by Jonathan Carter, who was re-elected for a fourth term. 274 developers took part in the voting, which is 28% of all participants with the right to vote, which is the lowest in the entire history of the project (last year turnout was 34%, the year before 44%, the historical maximum was 62%). This year's elections were notable for the fact that only one candidate was put forward, which reduced the voting to a choice between "for" and "no" (259 voted in favor, 15 against).

Jonathan Carter has been maintaining more than 2016 Debian packages since 60, contributing to the quality of live images on the debian-live team, and co-developing AIMS Desktop, a build of Debian used by a number of South African academic and educational institutions.
