EA ran ads on EA Sports UFC 4 reruns

EA Sports UFC 4 recently added ads to EA Sports UFC XNUMX that were shown in replays of the highlights of the match. This happened a month after the release, so reviewing journalists did not stumble upon such a trick from the publisher. But after the commercial scattered on the Web, and Electronic Arts was heavily criticized by gamers, it was decided to remove advertising from the game.

EA ran ads on EA Sports UFC 4 reruns

EA Sports UFC 4 launched on August 14 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but only recently featured ads for the Amazon TV series The Boys at the start and end of match replays. The project is sold at full price, and it is only natural that gamers do not want to see ads in it, as in shareware products. Electronic Arts noted the unanimously negative reviews and disabled the ads.

"Earlier this week, the team enabled ad placement in EA Sports UFC 4 that appeared during replays," Electronic Arts told Eurogamer. β€œThis kind of advertising is not new to the UFC franchise, although we have usually singled out the display of ads on certain tiles of the main menu or placed the logos of [sports advertising agency] Octagon. It's clear from the reviews that integrating ads into replays is discouraged. Ads have been disabled by the team and we apologize for any disruption to gameplay that gamers may have experienced."

Electronic Arts has been experimenting with ads in the UFC games for a long time, but perhaps this case will dampen the publisher's enthusiasm.
