EA had to re-record the narrator's voice for the C&C remaster due to the loss of the original recordings

While working on a remaster of the popular strategy game Command & Conquer, Electronic Arts discovered that it had lost the original voice recordings of the announcer from the first part of the franchise. Because of this, we had to re-record all the lines again.

EA had to re-record the narrator's voice for the C&C remaster due to the loss of the original recordings

For authenticity, the publisher hired Kia Huntzinger, who did the voice acting in the first Command & Conquer. It was her voice that commented on in-game events. EA producer Jim Vessella explained that Huntzinger agreed to work on the project for the sake of fans of the franchise.

β€œKiya wanted to do this for the fans and approached the recording with passion and zeal. We are grateful for her participation in the development of the remaster of the game and hope that fans will appreciate her work,” said Vessilla.

The company also noted that it would retain the voice of the original announcer in the Red Alert remaster, Martin Alper, who at that time was also the president of the publisher Virgin Interactive. Alper passed away in 2015, and according to EA, replacing his voice with another would be an incorrect decision.

The exact release date for the Command & Conquer and Red Alert remaster has not yet been disclosed, but the company planned to release the games before the end of 2020.
