As noted in the publication, this is one of the reshuffles of the studio on the eve of the release of the new part of the franchise. Longo was the creative director of Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, and moved to another position a few weeks before he was fired. Transfer details are not reported. Halo Infinite Development Lead Chris Lee will take over his duties.

β€œTim Longo recently left our team and we are grateful for his contributions to our projects and the Halo universe. We wish him all the best in all his endeavors.

We now have a world-class team building Halo Infinite and a fan response that has motivated us to create the best Halo game to date, adapting it for Project Scarlett. These changes did not affect the release date," Microsoft said in a statement.

Halo Infinite announced at E3 2018. This is the third game to tie into the main storyline of the franchise, which is being developed by 343 Industries. The project was taken over by Bungie after Bungie left in 2007. Its release is scheduled for autumn 2020.
