How we recently Reported, a pilot project to issue the first e-passports will start in July 2020 in Moscow, and a full-fledged transfer of Russians to a new type of identity card is planned to be completed by 2024.

We are talking about issuing cards to citizens with an integrated electronic chip. It will contain full name, date and place of birth, information about the place of residence, SNILS, TIN and driver's license, as well as an electronic signature.

So, it is reported that 85% of our compatriots are aware of the initiative to introduce electronic passports. True, only a third of Russians - approximately 31% - would like to have such a document. More than half of the respondents (59%) are currently not ready to issue an electronic passport.

According to the respondents, the main drawback of an electronic passport is unreliability: 22% of respondents stated this. Another 8% are afraid of possible failures in the system and database.

The most useful functions of an electronic passport, most of our fellow citizens include the ability to use an electronic passport as a bank card, as well as the function of storing several documents at the same time (passport, policy, TIN, driver's license, work book, etc.).
