The EU fined Qualcomm 242 million euros for trading chips at dumping prices

The European Commission said the US company used its market dominance to sell during 2009-2011. at prices lower than the cost of chips intended for USB dongles, which are used to connect to the mobile Internet. This fine brought an end to the EU's almost four-year investigation into Qualcomm's activities.

Announcing the fine, EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said that Qualcomm's "strategic behavior (actions taken to influence the market environment) hindered competition and innovation in this market and limited the choice available to consumers in a sector with huge demand and potential for innovative technologies."
