ESET: every fifth vulnerability in iOS is critical

ESET has published the results of a study on the security of mobile devices running operating systems of the Apple iOS family.

ESET: every fifth vulnerability in iOS is critical

We are talking about iPhone smartphones and iPad tablet computers. It is reported that the number of cyber threats to the gadgets of the "apple" empire has increased significantly in recent years.

In particular, in the first half of this year, experts discovered 155 vulnerabilities in the Apple mobile platform. This is a quarter - 24% - more than the result for the first half of 2018.

However, it should be emphasized that only every fifth flaw in iOS (about 19%) has the status of critically dangerous. Such "holes" can be exploited by malefactors for the purpose of unauthorized access to the mobile device and theft of personal data.

β€œThe trend of 2019 was iOS vulnerabilities that opened previously fixed bugs, and also made it possible to create a jailbreak for version 12.4,” ESET experts say.

In the past six months, a number of phishing attacks were recorded against owners of Apple mobile devices. Plus, in addition to universal cyber threats relevant to iOS and Android, there are cross-platform schemes associated with the use of third-party platforms and services.
