ALT p9 starterkits quarterly update

Available fourth edition starter kits on Platform Nine Alt, trained for i586, x86_64, aarch64 and armh architectures (torrents for i586, x86_64 ΠΈ aarch64). Additionally offered assembly for the mipsel architecture in variants for the Tavolga and BFK3 systems on the Baikal-T1 CPU (20190703). Owners of Elbrus VK based on 4C and 8C/1C+ processors also have access to a number of starter kits (20190903). Starter kits are suitable for getting started with a stable repository for users who prefer to define the list of application packages and customize the system themselves. images include into a base system, one of the desktop environments, or a set of specialized applications.

Changes regarding December release:

  • Linux kernel 4.19.102 and 5.4.23;
  • Mesa 19.2.8;
  • Firefox ESR 68.5;
  • kde5: 5.67.0 / 5.18.1 / 19.12.2;
  • builder, jeos, server: used to boot images in UEFI mode
    grub-efi;

  • ISO images available for aarch64: lxqt (live), rescue (rescue system), server-systemd (server with systemd init system), jeos-systemd (minimal installation image). Booting is also supported on Raspberry Pi 3 and 4 single board computers in UEFI mode;
  • discontinued qemu imaging for aarch64, as now available
    ISO images;

  • stopped building server-pve build, previous build is available in
    archive.

Known Issues:

  • clipboard not working in virtualbox;
  • cinnamon, gnome3, kde5 are having issues with window resizing in
    virtualbox when using vmsvga virtual video adapter;

  • in UEFI mode, sysvinit does not display non-ASCII characters if the kernel
    quiet is passed to boot.

The images were assembled using mkimage-profiles 1.3.15 with changes, not yet accepted into the main branch. The builds for aarch64 and armh contain rootfs archives and qemu images in addition to ISO images. Installation instructions (aarch64, armh); instructions for launching qemu (aarch64, armh).

Collected for the company Engineering on p9 - Live with engineering software. A beta version of cnc-rt - Live is also available with a realtime kernel and LinuxCNC software CNC for x86_64. The image also includes realtime tests.
