According to online sources, the Facebook development team is preparing to add a number of new features to the social network's Android application, the most notable of which will be support for a full-fledged dark mode and a tool to track the spread of the coronavirus.
Over the past few months, there have been repeated reports that the Facebook app for Android will soon receive support for dark mode, but the mass deployment of this feature has not yet reached. The source notes that users will be able to manually switch modes or use the system-wide switching settings available in Android 10.
The post is complemented by snapshots of what dark mode looks like on Facebook's Android app. It uses dark shades of gray, as well as blue and white accents typical of Facebook. Unfortunately, the exact date of the beginning of the mass distribution of this function has not yet been announced.
Another feature that Facebook is working on for its Android app has to do with informing users about the coronavirus situation. It is assumed that users will be able to obtain data on the number of confirmed cases of infection in the region of residence for different periods of time. At the top of the section, information about all confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in the world is displayed.
The interface of the Facebook Time section is also expected to be updated, with the help of which users can control the time spent on the social network. Apparently, along with the change in the user interface, any new features will not be added to this section.
