According to online sources, the popular messaging app Facebook Messenger will receive an updated interface design that will simplify the process of interacting with the messenger. It is expected that the mass distribution of the new version of the application will begin next week.
In accordance with the concept of the new design, the developers decided to refuse to display a number of additional functions in the main menu of the messenger. For example, chatbots and tabs "Discovery", "Transport", "Games" will be hidden. One of the leading roles will go to the "People" tab, where you can watch "Friends' Stories" and other information.
The developers believe that the updated design will encourage users to spend more time visually interacting with friends and consuming content, instead of exploring shopping chatbots. This approach will help Facebook increase the revenue from the messenger, as advertising content is now shown in groups.
Although chatbots, games, and some other features will no longer appear in the main menu, access to them will remain. Users will be able to find them using the Messenger search bar, Facebook ads, and more. The company notes that business will continue to be an important part of the messenger.
Recall that Facebook began to implement chatbots in its messenger in 2016, after this strategy was presented at the F8 conference. At that time, the developers were confident that chatbots built on the basis of neural networks would be a useful tool for various companies to provide remote customer service and promote products.
