Famitsu: Final Fantasy VII remake started in Japan worse than Final Fantasy XV, but only slightly

Japanese weekly magazine Famitsu shared information about sales of boxed versions of games in the Land of the Rising Sun during the period from April 6 to April 12. The leader of the chart was predictably taken by the remake of Final Fantasy VII.

In three days from the start of sales, 702 thousand copies of the first episode of the remake were sold in the region. The closest competitor to the updated Final Fantasy VII last week, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, was more than half behind (292 thousand).

However, the remake failed to show the best start of the game for PlayStation 4: Monster Hunter World (1,2 million copies) and Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (950 thousand) were more successful.

As for comparison with Final Fantasy XV, then here too the modernized Final Fantasy VII found itself lagging behind, albeit only slightly. The difference was less than 20 thousand copies: 716 thousand versus 702 thousand.

However, the figures for Final Fantasy XV are given according to Famitsu. According to the analytical company Media Create, the starting sales of the latest serialized part of the series amounted to 690 thousand copies.

The first episode of the Final Fantasy VII remake went on sale on April 10 for PS4. The second issue is already in production, and in the course of its anticipation the game producer is interested to know, how fans think the plot will develop further.
