The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS), according to RBC, did not support the introduction of restrictions on the introduction of eSIM technology in our country.
Recall that eSim, or embedded SIM, implies the presence of a special identification chip in the smartphone, which allows you to connect to a cellular operator without the need to install a physical SIM card. This opens up a number of new opportunities for market participants: for example, to connect to a cellular network, you do not have to visit communication stores. Plus, on one device, you can have several phone numbers from different operators - without physical SIM cards.

However, the FAS did not support the proposed restrictions. βFAS is actively involved in discussions on the use of eSIM in Russia. It is necessary to evaluate all the features of this technology. FAS does not intend to limit the number of market participants - this would be contrary to the interests of competition," the agency said.
Note that the "big three" mobile operators - MTS, MegaFon and VimpelCom (Beeline brand) - oppose the introduction of eSIM in Russia. The reason is a possible loss of income.
