Team Ladybug studio has published a new trailer for the fantasy 2D metroidvania Record of Lodoss War -Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- and announced the release date of the early version. The game will appear in 13 March.
The game was announced in 2018 as a gift to all fans of the Record of Lodoss War universe, which was then celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. The said universe is based on a series of fantasy novels of the same name by Japanese author Ryo Mizuno, the first of which debuted in April 1988.
The plot of the books is largely based on the structure and setting of the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. Let's add that the series had a huge influence on Japanese popular culture: the vast majority of elves, dark elves and other similar creatures in modern manga and anime are based on the images of the Record of Lodoss War heroines Deedlit and Pirotess. And both of them will appear in the new game.
From a mechanical point of view, the usual Metroidvania awaits us. Elf Deedlit comes to her senses in an unknown labyrinth. Next you will have to explore a vast location, collect useful items and upgrade skills that will open access to new areas of the labyrinth. Puzzles, enemies and powerful bosses are included. The game has so far been announced only for PC and in early access will only support Japanese, Chinese and English.
