The company would not like to repeat the unsuccessful experience of the Xbox One.
The coronavirus is still having a huge impact on the world, but Microsoft is calm about the upcoming release of the Xbox Series X. According to Spencer, to date the company has guaranteed a steady supply of the new product, and there is no reason to believe that at the start of sales the console will be in short supply due to problems with production or supply chains.
For now, the company is confident in its ability to meet demand this fall, which is why it has ruled out launching the product at different times in different countries. Only as a last resort will Microsoft take such measures. A similar strategy did not pay off in the case of the Xbox One, whose worldwide release lasted almost a year. Let us remember that it debuted in November 2013 in the USA and Europe and only in September 2014 it became officially available in Japan, Russia and China.
The head of Xbox also expressed confidence that developers at Microsoft itself and at other studios will have time to finish games for the Xbox Series X by its release. Still, a new console is nothing without at least a few interesting games at the start of sales, and its release should be tied to the readiness of new gaming products.
