According to the edition , Constantin Film has acquired the film rights to the Just Cause video game series. The creator and screenwriter of the John Wick trilogy, Derek Kolstad, will be responsible for the plot of the film. The deal was concluded with Avalanche Studios and Square Enix, and the parties hope that the deal will not be limited to one film.
The main character will once again be the permanent Rico Rodriguez, who will again try to defeat the Black Hand organization. In the games, the protagonist does not part with a grappling hook and a wingsuit, and during missions he constantly shoots at everyone and blows up every red barrel and tank he sees. Surely they will try to show all this in the film adaptation.
The film will be produced by Robert Kulzer and Adrian Askarieh. Square Enix and Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film are appointed executive producers.
The names of the director and actors are still unknown, but the studio clearly does not plan to delay their search. According to Deadline, the producers want to do everything possible to start showing the film in theaters in 2020.
