The budget of the federal project "Artificial Intelligence" (AI) will be reduced several times at once. About it Kommersant newspaper, referring to a letter from Deputy Head of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications Maxim Parshin to federal executive authorities.
The named initiative is being prepared for about a year, and its passport must be approved before August 31. The main goals of the project are: ensuring the growth of demand for products and services created or provided using artificial intelligence; design and development of software that uses AI technologies; support for scientific research in order to ensure the advanced development of artificial intelligence; increasing the availability and quality of data, etc.
However, the implementation of the initiative may be delayed due to funding cuts. If at the beginning of this year it was planned to allocate 2024 billion rubles to the project by the end of 125, including 89,7 billion rubles of budget funds, now it is only 27,7 billion rubles, of which 22,4 billion rubles will be provided from the budget.
In other words, the amount of funding has decreased more than four times. However, the project is proposed to be additionally financed from the budgets for the digitalization of federal authorities. As a result, as noted, the total costs may even exceed the amounts originally named.
